VB Dems Podcast: Kaine Press Conference on Smoking Ban
Here’s a podcast from yesterday’s press conference in which Governor Kaine announced his initiatives to introduce legislation banning smoking from Virginia’s restaurants. In the House, the bill will be carried by Delegate Algie Howell and in the Senate, by Senator Ralph Northam, who also spoke at the event from the perspective of being a doctor who treats children. Senator Northam will serve on the Senate Health and Education committee and he expressed hope that Virginia’s legislature would be more proactive rather than reactive when it comes to protecting our health. Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf also spoke about the cooperative of local government officials as well as leaders in the restaurant industry coming to together to support this initiative.
