Charlottesville–Right Now: Jim Bacon of Bacon’s Rebellion previews the 2007 General Assembly

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Jim Bacon of Bacon’s Rebellion joins Coy Barefoot to talk about the latest in Virginia politics. The General Assembly reconvenes next week, and the discussion in this interview is over what role transportation will play in this short session. Governor Kaine says he wants the session to focus on how to pay for road and transit projects throughout the state. Bacon outlines how he thinks the session will unfold.

“The governor is still pushing really hard for what he calls a sustainable long-term transportation funding, and the Republicans in the House are just as insistent against it,” says Bacon. “Hopefully what will happen is that there’s some room for agreement.”

A meager beginning to virginiapodcast.net

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Hey all! While no one is looking, and before I have any of this written out, I just want to say I’m happy to be finally writing something on virginiapodcast.net.

So, what is virginiapodcast.net? Well, that’s a good question. What I would like for us to be is an aggregator for all podcasts across Virginia. I would like this to be the place where everyone in this state will come for non-broadcast audio and video recordings made in and around this wonderful state of ours.

But, it’s going to take some work. And, you’ll notice, we don’t have any podcasts here yet. It’s going to take some time to get used to another blog. It’s a bit heady to talk about the plans we have for this space, mostly because we’re such a small staff.

We know that podcasting is a viable medium, and one that is poised to take off. And, this will be among the places to find out what’s going on in this wonderful state of ours.
