What can I do to become a wedding planner?

Question by Mae: What can I do to become a wedding planner?
My dream has always been to be a wedding planner. I’ve looked into it a little bit, and it looks to me like I can either go to a community college or do an online program. I don’t really like either of those options, I would really like to go to a university and major in this, but I can’t find any universities that offer anything remotely like I want to do. Does anybody know of any colleges that offer a major in wedding planning or event planning or anything similar to that?

Your best bet would be to get a degree in Hospitality. Check with James Madison University’s College of Business in Harrisonburg, Virginia (540-568-6211). They are one of the top rated colleges granting a degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management. There are plenty of other universities that offer degrees in Hospitality too. Guy Fieri, who hosts several shows on Food Network, attended University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.

Answer by Kyle Busch is an ……
Other than the fact that your question is terribly vague, and use of the term social psychologist shows you’ve haven’t researched the field very thoroughly, I would suggest you consult the websites of colleges in the state of Virginia to find your answer relative to the basic subject.

How do I go about petitioning court in the state of Virginia to become an “authorized representative”??

Question by GOT2BREAL: How do I go about petitioning court in the state of Virginia to become an “authorized representative”??
My mother passed away about 6 months ago. She left no will. We can’t seem to come to agreement about her home she left behind. There are 6 siblings. Four have agreed to sell the home. The other 2 have not. How do I go about petitioning court to put home up for sale. Also, my four siblings want me to be the person who wil handle everything. Do I need to ask to be the authorized representative?

Should I take notarized statements to court stating it is ok for me to represent those that are willing to sign. I can’t afford a lawyer and appreciate your response. The other two will not be in agreement, but cannot afford to buy home or buy us out.

Thanks for your reply, Again, I live in Virginia.

please accept my condolences on the death of your mother. I am well aware that six months later is emotionally far too soon to be handling the sale of her house.

the Probate or similar court in the county where she lived in Virgina is the place. If you are a Virginia resident, I believe that you may petition the court to be appointed Executor [or whatever Virginia calls this person].

Since there is no Will, state law will control how her assets must be divided. That law [google will find it, the key words are “intestate” together with “Virginia law”] very probably requires that the assets be equally divided among the surviving children [assuming her husband is already deceased].

Since this can not be done without selling the house, the Executor will have the power to sell the house no matter what some portion of the heirs wish [unless all of the heirs were in agreement] in order to divide the proceeds.

Unfortunately, since the heirs are apparently not in agreement, you can look forward to a great deal of squabbling, name calling, hurt feelings, and egotistical behavior — all directed at the Executor who is doing what the law requires but this particular individual believes should be done differently anyway.

Question by deucesanders: Which degree to choose to become a patent attorney?
I am currently in the Naval Nuclear Program and have be told the at Old Dominion Univ. I could earn upt to 62 accelerated credits.which of the two technical engineering degrees should i choose to pursue if i want to be a patent attorney? Mechanical Engineering-Nuclear Technology (62 cr.)or Electrical Engineering-Computer Software (0 cr.). Also I plan to apply and attend a Law school on the Eastern coast and practice at a law firm in Virginia, Washington, DC, or Georgia.

Wow – Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering are both great – Why does it have to be nuclear, if you go the ME route? Why does it have to be Computer Software if you go EE? With ME would you need an additional 62 credits, or you already have 62 credits there? If possible, could you go ME/EE, or is that not realistic? You may have more options goin EE/Computer Sci, but I would suggest going with your heart. You will be happier, and frankly you should be able to transfer skill sets fairly easily, you may find.

Good luck!
