HD: Chesapeake and Ohio 614 back on the High Iron

Chesapeake and Ohio J3a 614 is heading to Roanoke Va. to be on display with the famed N&W A 1218 and N&W J 611. The 614 was stored in Port Clinton Pennsylvania headquarters of the Reading & Northern for almost 10 years. The Reading turn (Tamaqua-Reading) took the 614 to Reading yard, where it could be interchanged with Norfolk Southern and head to Roanoke. We followed this historic move from Port Clinton to Robesonia Pennsylvania on Wednesday January 12th and Thursday January 13th 2010. Thank you very much for watching and don’t forget to watch in HD! Special thanks to the following for making this production possible, Kyle Sanders, Steve Gilbert, Alvin Rineer, the Reading & Northern and Norfolk Southern Railroad

How long would it take to mail a package from Virginia near the Chesapeake Bay to Western Tennessee?

Question by XxXnotquiteemo:(XxX: How long would it take to mail a package from Virginia near the Chesapeake Bay to Western Tennessee?
What’s the safest method of mailing the package as well? I’m making my friend a blanket and its important it gets to him. I’d be really upset if he didn’t get it. 🙁 It’s in his exact favorite colors and everything, and I’ve started 5 months early to make sure its perfect in time for his birthday in May.

Pack the blanket in a box and if there’s any empty spots left in the box, fill it with wrapping paper/newspaper/bubble packing. A tightly packed box is important. Tape the bottom and the top of the box tightly. Write his address boldly on top of the box and then use clear tape over the address (in case it gets a bit wet and they can’t read the address). Go to the post office and they’ll ask you if you want to ship it quickly, like overnight, which of course costs extra, or if you want to insure the package in case it’s totally destroyed or lost. I don’t think insuring the package is gonna help…it doesn’t help get the box there any faster or safer. With regular mail, I’d give it 2 or 3 days to get to western TN. And I think what you did is very cool…thanks for making a blanket for him! It’s cold out there!
