Notice the crappy colors; I still only have 16 colors. Since my motherboard included sound and network (among other things), motherboard drivers were necessary. I’m not sure why a SATA driver would be necessary, since my drive IS SATA, and obviously is working just fine to get to this point. I think I didn’t install that.

BACKSTORY: So, as mentioned before (in a 10-part series of blog posts), my trusty computer of 9 years, "Storm", died a nasty death. My secondary/kitchen computer "Hell" stepped up to bat and took Storm’s place, but I still needed a new computer for our somewhat newly-built upstairs space. So I built Hades, during which I wrote another 5 blog posts. These are the pictures I took while building it.

AS degree in Computer Network Specialist or a certificate in designing and installing network systems?

Question by live and learn: AS degree in Computer Network Specialist or a certificate in designing and installing network systems?
The degree requires CCNA and Apprentice to graduate. Can I get a job with either one in Virginia? Tell me all about these fields? Etc?

You can work on networks for sure. I dunno if you will get snatched up right out of your diapers, but you can sure make a living.

I do networks for a living, and I don’t even have any of those certs.

May working days usually consist of talking on the phone, sending emails, and bugging people about what they want. When that’s done, I sit down and plan a network (not as tedious as you would think) get bids for hardware, and send a proposal. If they bite (and they almost always do) I call my friends, we all go in to a place and string cable and slap machines together, program some stuff, and then collect a 10,000 dollar or greater check.

Look. There is never going to be LESS use for computer networks than there is right now. What I mean is: Computer networking is just going to become more and more useful. It’s plenty useful (and lucrative) now, but it will just continue to be more useful. There are vast swaths of the earth that don;t have broadband.. That won’t be true in 25 years.

Notice the crappy colors; I still only have 16 colors. Finally, I get to install my LAN driver, allowing me access to the other computers in the house as well as the internet. I would need this in order to get the latest version of my video card drivers downloaded.
