How do I register a car that I bought in Kansas City but a residence of Virginia?

Question by Mike: How do I register a car that I bought in Kansas City but a residence of Virginia?
I am temporarily working here in Kansas City, KS and bought a car.
I cannot register the car here in Kansas City because I am not a Kansas City resident and does not have a Kansas City address. I am staying most of the time in hotels and extended stay.
How do I register the car in Virginia since I have a Virginia driver’s license and established my residency there. By the way, I traded my car with Virginia tags on it. Can I transfer the tags on the newly bought car?
