The Peters Mountain "AT&T Switching Facility," maintained by the federal government northeast of Charlottesville. It’s said to be a part of the old AUTOVON switching system, and now functions as a microwave relay station as a part of a Washington-area federal communication network. In addition, I understand it is (or was) an evacuation site for those high-ranking federal officials lucky enough to be selected to survive a nuclear blast.
