Colin Goddard Speech from the 2011 SCCC Convention

On August 8, 2011, Colin Goddard, the Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, spoke at the national convention of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC). Colin was shot four times during the Virginia Tech tragedy on April 16, 2007 and survived. SCCC is a nonprofit organization that advocates for legislation to force American colleges and universities to allow guns on campus. The convention was also co-sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation, a radical gun rights organization that opposes background checks on gun purchasers and holds an insurrectionist view of the Second Amendment (“The intent of [the amendment] was to protect individuals from government powers”). Colin was participating that day in a debate with John Lott, a Fox News commentator whose research in support of loose gun laws has been discredited by the National Academy of Sciences and others.
