Question by sarah s: What colleges can I get into on the east coast with a 2.3 GPA?
I’m a junior right now and my overall GPA is a 2.3. What colleges can I get into on the east coast? I’m also thinking of applying to some colleges in West Virginia, North and South Carolina and Pennsylvania. Which ones could I apply to? And please no community colleges.
Answer by KristenK I would check into some community colleges. You can get your basics completed and then transfer to a State University or a University that specializes in the degree you want. While at the community college you can get your GPA up and it its a smaller atmosphere allowing you to have a closer relationship with your professors(a plus), class sizes are smaller and you can reduce your cost by living at home.
Question by Alli: What do all Virginia colleges and universities specialize in?
I am a high school student and am looking for colleges I might be interested in. I want to choose by seeing what each school’s specialty fields and studies are. If you could direct me to a web page with a list of Virginia colleges and universities with their specialties, that would be great.
Answer by djaca70 There is no single webpage that does something like this. What you need to do is get ‘Petersen’s Guide to Colleges and Universities,’ your guidance office should have a copy, and start looking up the schools.
Keep in mind, there are private and public universities, colleges, technical schools, junior colleges, military academies, community colleges, theology schools, all throughout Virginia.

Question by Kat: how to find top rank colleges in virginia or any state?
i have no idea how to look this up..i need help please
thanks for answering 🙂
Answer by Mimi It depends largely upon your major. I can’t think of the name right now… maybe Newsweek… but there is a magazine published annually that you can find at Barnes and Noble for sure (I’ve read them there before) and probably other bookstores have them which states the best schools this year and last for a certain major! Hope this helps!
